Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s team has explained how it selects guests for its popular podcast ‘WTF is’, clarifying that paying for a spot is not an option. Rachna Bhutoria from Kamath’s PR team in Bengaluru posted on LinkedIn, describing the process and inviting applications.
« After months of processing requests, I thought it was time to provide some clarity. I get it: it’s hard to continually pitch customers who deserve a platform. I’ve been there. But here’s the problem: a little research takes a lot of time Please don’t ask about our ads, or how much we charge, or some kind of barter. Trust me, you can’t buy the pattern. -she writes.
Bhutoria explained that the team first selects a podcast topic and then looks for guests who can offer unique and valuable insights.
“If your client truly brings new perspectives or represents an untapped area, we’re open to that: just send the name of the company, spokesperson (the less media trained the better) and industry. That’s all we need. Think of an elevator pitch on steroids,” she added.
« It’s refreshing to see a podcast prioritize authentic ideas and unique perspectives over commercial interests. Authenticity and relevance will always stand out, » Papiha Ghosh wrote on LinkedIn. « I LOVE THIS! Much respect, » one user wrote.
In December, data from Apple and Podtail ranked “WTF is” as the ninth most popular podcast in India. A Spotify report also showed it as one of the best new and global video podcasts on the platform.
