Bandits were killed, others injured and two suspected kidnappers apprehended by the Haitian National Police in the Artibonite department.
In a note, the HPN informs that during operations supported by the detachment of the Temporary Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG) of Artibonite, the gang leader of Ti Grif, operating in Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite was killed on Saturday October 28, 2023 , in exchanges of fire with the Police.
The PNH also informs that last Thursday, October 26, the man named “Gros Nègre” was abandoned in exchanges of fire with UTAG agents, in the commune of Liancourt. Several of his associates were also shot and injured. They were involved in scenes of looting of private property, indicates the PNH note.
During police operations carried out with the UTAG detachment of Artibonite, on Tuesday October 24, 2023, “Rat” as well known, active member of the “Gran Grif” gang which operates in Savien was killed and others were wounded by bullets.
In this sense, the Departmental Police Directorate of Artibonite reiterates its commitment to fight against all centers of gangs, with a view to restoring order and peace in the department.
The Gonaïves Police, for their part, informed that they had caught two individuals presented as alleged kidnappers, on the afternoon of Monday October 30, 2023, when they were preparing to receive a ransom demanded in exchange for the release of several hostages.
By renewing its commitment to creating a climate of peace conducive to the well-being of the population of Gonaïves, the Police informs that the suspected kidnappers are being kept in custody pending the necessary legal action.
