It’s a proud day for India! Starring singer Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain’s fusion band Shakti won the Best World Music Album award for their latest album ‘This Moment’.

They were nominated in the Grammy race along with artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy and Davido. The 66th edition of the Grammy Awards 2024 takes place in Los Angeles.
“This Moment” features 8 songs created by John McLaughlin (guitar, synthesizer guitar), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist) and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
In his acceptance speech, Mahadevan said, “Thank you boys. Thanks to God, family, friends and India. India, we are proud of you.
His cry to the nation drew loud cheers from the crowd.
Mahadevan also thanked his wife for her constant support.
“Finally, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife to whom every note of my music is dedicated,” he added. The band also includes guitarist John McLaughlin, percussionist V Selvaganesh and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan.
At the ceremony, the group Shakti competed with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy and Davido. The album “This Moment” was released on June 30 last year.
The 66th annual Grammys are being held in Los Angeles.
