The Haiti women’s soccer team defeated Saint Kitts and Nevis 13-0 in a CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup qualifying match.
CAP-HAÏTIEN — The Haitian women’s football team remains undefeated in CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup 2024 playoffs after securing a resounding 13-0 victory over Saint Kitts and Nevis at their opponent’s Football Association Technical Center on October 30.
Before Batcheba Louis scored five goals while Haiti’s star player Melchie “Corventine” Dumornay found the net three times. Defender Kethna Louis scored a double and Joséphine Vanuxeem, Danielle Etienne And Nérilia Mondesir everyone scored once.
Dumornay is the top scorer in the qualifiers, with eight goals in two appearances, and Louis third with five goals in three games.
The 2024 Women’s Gold Cup, a new competition that will bring together teams from the Americas region, will debut in the United States from February 20 to March 10, 2024.
Six teams have already qualified for the competition: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay.
Haiti is now the highest scoring team in the qualifiers after Monday’s victory, with 25 goals in three games without conceding a single one. Les Grenadières blanked Costa Rica 1-0 in their first playoff match on September 21, then beat Saint Kitts and Nevis 11-0 on October 26 before defeating them again on Monday 13-0.
Haiti leads Group C in the qualifiers after accumulating nine points. The first-placed team in the group will automatically qualify for the Gold Cup while the second-placed team will go through a play-off round to fight for a place.
Haiti’s final match in the qualifiers will be against Costa Rica away on November 30. He needs at least a draw to qualify for the Gold Cup.
